英语美文:Sweet Dream

　　After I failed all the 15 subjects except English in my second year in USTC, I had to leave. I didn’t regret at all, because in my opinion, it wasn’t a good bargain to have a so—called “splendid future” at the cost of my youth. I just felt sorry for my parents since I owed them so much. Not to disappoint them, I must work on my own and become something. Since I had no diploma, I had to struggle from the very bottom, I had to be more adult to bear the cruelty and adapt to the rules of the dark society. But before I went to the mattress, I would do something to put a satisfying end to my angry, passionate youth.

　　So I used all my money to make my biggest dream come true. I made a band. Two electric guitars, a bass, a set of drums and a garage were all I had. A bunch of friends who’d got the same fate and addiction to rock n’ roll joined me. Our band, “Unagi”, was founded in Dec 9th. Four angry men with teen spirit practiced 8 hours a day in the garage, while I kept writing music. Our music was angry and sad, desperate but calm, everybody put his heart and soul in it, it was not just placebo, it was the cure. We were having really happy days, and we knew that would be the last happy days of ours.

　　A year later, Unagi was about to disband. It was our time. We selected 7 of our best pieces and released an EP album called “the Funeral”. Then we gave a farewell concert, quite sad. We all remained silent and played madly. Days later when we were planning to smash the instrument and burn the garage, we realized that our album was a real hit that sold so well, and we were becoming the best band ever. Within two weeks, the sales volume turned over 1 million. Unagi was everywhere.

　　We didn’t think about the money stuff at all, music was just our way of life. Still, money came to you, and pretty much. Anyway, I continued to write music, and everyone in Unagi found his calling.

　　Not easy being a celebrity, but I still enjoyed my life with that money. First, I bought two houses for my parents, one by the seaside and another by the hillside, well equipped with BMW, Hammer, helicopter and boat to satisfy their various need. Also to satisfy their need, I spent a lot of time together with them. Then I founded a fund in USTC named “Unagi Save the Cursed”, to support those who want to but have economic problem to make bands or fulfill their dreams. Talking about myself, without the pressure of bread, I could read and write novels, watch and direct movies, listen to and compose music freely, and nothing commercial. I immersed myself in the unreal world of words, images, and sounds, so addicted. I arranged my own schedule as I wish, and I got even lazier despite I had always been lazybones. The modern art, exactly the same as drugs, ate me up gradually. I became abnormal, too sensitive and felt difficult to communicate. As a result, my lover had gone. I had several wives ever since, not loved, and a daughter, rebellious, not spoiled. I died of a drug overdose, smiling.
