in the future days, which we seek to make secure, we look forward to a world founded upon four essential human freedoms.

the first is freedom of speech and expression -- everywhere in the world.

the second is freedom of every person to worship god in his own way -- everywhere in the world.

the third is freedom from want, which, translated into world terms, means economic understandings which will secure to every nation a healthy peacetime life for its inhabitants -- everywhere in the world.

the fourth is freedom from fear, which, translated into world terms, means a world-wide reduction of armaments to such a point and in such a thorough fashion that no nation will be in a position to commit an act of physical aggression against any neighbor -- anywhere in the world.

that is no vision of a distant millennium. it is a definite basis for a kind of world attainable in our own time and generation. that kind of world is the very antithesis of the so-called “new order” of tyranny which the dictators seek to create with the crash of a bomb.

to that new order we oppose the greater conception -- the moral order. a good society is able to face schemes of world domination and foreign revolutions alike without fear.

since the beginning of our american history we have been engaged in change, in a perpetual, peaceful revolution, a revolution which goes on steadily, quietly, adjusting itself to changing conditions without the concentration camp or the quicklime in the ditch. the world order which we seek is the cooperation of free countries, working together in a friendly, civilized society.

this nation has placed its destiny in the hands and heads and hearts of its millions of free men and women, and its faith in freedom under the guidance of god. freedom means the supremacy of human rights everywhere. our support goes to those who struggle to gain those rights and keep them. our strength is our unity of purpose.

同学们好，看到这样子的一个舞台，我就很紧张，因为做导演，永远是在那个摄影机背后的人，在镜头前面你就会紧张，好像突然你的角色不对了，有点语无伦次，请大家原谅。

在我小学四年级的时候，不再有机会上学了。我14岁那年，就自己拎了一个包，当兵去了，这完全是一件不能想象的事情。从14岁到23岁这个年龄段里面，我都是在部队，在锻炼，好像在准备着有一天重新再去上学的这一天。这一天是1978年来到的，而那一年我已经23岁了，那一年不考大学的话，按照规定，就不能再上大学了，所以我就下了一个决心，不管我学什么，我一定要上这个大学。我一开始没有想到去考电影学院，我觉得我可能是去学医比较现实，但是突然有一天，我们一个同事给我拿了一个《人民日报》的报纸，上面有一个广告上写的：北京电影学院招生，有一条它的规定打动我了，它说艺术院线考试是在高考之前，当时给我一感觉是，我可能可以获得两次机会，如果要是艺术院校考不上，我还可以再接着考医学院。这个小小的原因吧，我就先去考了电影学院。

大家当时都在开着一个玩笑，说长得好看的肯定去考表演系，会拍照片的去考摄影系，会画画的人考美术系，拉点小提琴或者弹钢琴的人可以考录音系，前面那几个系我肯定考不了，就问说：“导演系需要什么才能？”他们说只要两片嘴就能考导演系，我就去了。

我们毕业的时候，当时我们班28个人打成了一片，都在争取自己最好的机会，那时候就想怎么能进单位，怎么能进电影制片厂。当时进电影制片厂特别特别的难。北影厂只有两个指标，可能第一是田壮壮，第二就可能是陈凯歌，我觉得再排十个人也轮不着我。当时我觉得，我要是能分在北京电影制片厂，我觉得我的理想可能就建筑到一半了。通过了两个月的努力，毕业的时候，我真正拿到了北京电影制片厂的报道证，这个报道证我到现在还留在我自己家里面。我觉得那是我走上社会的第一步，非常非常珍贵的第一步。

人生的路可能十年是一步，可能在你的有生之年，分成五十年吧，最有效的五十年，实际上我们走五步就把这一生走完了。所以你想想这一生，其实每十年就是你的一个进程。这十年的进程怎么规划它，是非常重要的一件事情。所以我就给自己走出校园的这十年做了一个规划，当时想，我要用三年的时间跟拍四部戏，这四部戏我就当副导演，那么这四部戏的副导演做完了之后，我觉得我还要完成的一件事情，就是第一部作品，我自己的孩子。因为不管怎么样，我是一个女性，我怎么处理好我的感情生活，我的家庭，还有我做女人的责任，做导演之前是要做出一个选择。所以我自己定了一个计划，就是前三年一定，全部的精力放在我自己的孩子身上，然后等到她上幼儿园以后，我再出来拍戏。

讲这个过程呢，实际上其实告诉每一个我们毕业、走向社会的时候，你的事业和你的生活是要同时考虑的，而在考虑的过程中间，你要有一个规划，你可能会任性，你可能会觉得我不闯一下，我可能就不甘心，你可能会觉得我必须要试一下，我才能够觉得我能不能干。其实我觉得这是一个最好的时机，但是你要把这个时机放在前十年，你有三次犯错误的机会。犯一次错误，可能你要付出两到三年，你要重新再来整理和规划，再重新往前走，三次机会就是九年的时间，在这个九年的时间，你可以尽情的去闯、去创业、去跟社会碰撞。

其实你碰撞的所有这些东西，实际上是你在认识你自己。这十年可能是最浪漫的十年，这十年是因为你自己要去认识你自己，你要跟你自己谈一次恋爱，然后知道什么是你最爱的东西，什么是你这一生中，你觉得丢掉它，你活不下去，你一说到它你就会很激动，你就会有激情，你就会为它付出所有一切。你要建立你一个梦想，你要触摸到它，有时候你觉得你触摸到它，这个梦就破碎了，那可能就不是你的梦，你触摸到它之后，你非常舍弃不掉，再难你都觉得你放不下它，这个梦可能才是你人生的一个梦。

所以在这十年当中，你们有任何挫折，我都觉得不可怕，都是你人生必要的经历。比方说，我自己真正拍了第一部戏的时候，我才知道我确实是对电影有一种感情，而这种感情已经是别的任何东西取代不了的。你看我1982年进的北影，我到1987年开始才拍第一部戏，你可想而知我当时对那部戏的那个心情，那种渴望的程度。结果刚刚开机第七天，贾宏声刚拍了第一场戏，就把腿给摔断了，然后好不容易把他腿的问题解决了，我没有停拍，我婆婆又突然抢救。所以这部戏对我来讲，真的是一个极大的磨炼。但是这部戏之后，我是觉得我的梦想在电影中，我觉得我会一生为电影来付出我自己最大的'努力。

在这十年当中，你们又可能会和我一样经历你们的感情生活、家庭生活，还有你的孩子。其实这些东西我都觉得尽量在前十年解决，为什么说生孩子一定要在这之前？你可以算一个非常简单的帐，你二十五岁生孩子的话，你三十五岁你孩子就十岁了，那时候你的父母实际上还不到六十岁，这样子的话，你生活的负担和你的精力相对都要充沛。所以这个账一算吧，我觉得早生孩子，对于你的事业发展，和你的梦想的实现，可能有时候是一件好事。

我觉得一般对于人生最挑战的坎坷，实际上是在第二个十年，就是三十岁到四十岁的这十年，因为这十年是你精力最好、你特别有欲望和激情去创造的十年。这十年，少犯一次错误，可能就会给你赢得一次机会，赢得一次成功的可能性。所以在这十年当中，我只给自己规定了只能犯两次错误的机会。因为这个时候我们要犯一次错误，可能会付出的代价比前面那十年要大，所以这十年是我们一定要牢牢抓住的十年，这是你成功的起步。但是也可能就在这种时候，你可能会犯下你自己一生都不愿意原谅的错误。你可能会迷茫，可能会在这个时候变得不确定，面临很多选择，你对自己的评估可能会过高，也可能会过低。而在这个十年当中，我自己的体会，我是放慢了自己的脚步。

1996年我做了两件事情，第一就是办了自己的公司，第二件事情就是选择了去拍电视剧。1995年我们拍了《雷雨》，1998年我们拍了《大明宫词》，2000年我们拍了《橘子红了》。其实我觉得某种程度上来讲，当大家都觉得我好像放弃了电影理想，但是我觉得恰恰是这几年帮了我很大的忙。电视这十年，对我是一个极大的锻炼，是一个很大的推动的十年。

从四十岁再到五十岁的时候，我觉得是我人生的一次升华。你只能犯一次错误，你没有机会再犯第二次错误。我现在人生恰恰走在这个十字路口上，我觉得这个十年是回报社会的十年的开始，可能你的生活会发生一次改变，你不但为你活着，你可能会要为更多的人，为整个社会去建设的一个十年。

名和利上，你也是可以做加减法的。在我人生当中，如果要是说，最举棋不定在做加减法的时候，就是大家都知道的，对《红楼梦》的拍摄。对于我的名利上来讲，我其实不需要这次机会。但是对于一个搞创作的人来讲，你一生太难得有一个机会，去面对一个名著，面对这样的一个挑战。这一次我选择了加法。

接过来的那一天，我也非常清楚，我所面对的是什么样的困难，我可能面对的是什么样的结果，但是是什么让我有了这个力量，让我坚持下来呢？我觉得就是《红楼梦》本身的魅力。而且我觉得对我一个学习电影，和对电影有梦想的人，我觉得这个机会是我一生中非常难得的，它能让我不去想这些名和利上的损失，我觉得这三年的创作可能对我来讲是非常享受的三年。这次选择，就我自己平心而论，我收获比我失去的要多。

为什么今天我要跟同学们讲这个“人生加减法”。可能是因为走到这个年龄段，我觉得人生真的是很短暂，我觉得不规划好自己的人生，你会对人生留下很多遗憾，我觉得人生只有规划好你自己的这个五十年，你的人生才会最精彩。当然我觉得每一个十年当中都有你自己和别人可能不一样的故事，因为我是走过了这三十年过来的人，我愿意跟大家分享我自己的经验，我愿意奉献我自己的一些经历，希望能够对你们的人生有一些帮助，我想把更多的时间留给同学们。谢谢！

young!fortunately, i am young now. just due to it, i know that nothing is impossible.i firmly believe that nothing can stand in my way. if i can't realize my dream,it result from that i haven't work harder enough and i won't find other excuses. if no people believe you, you can make it to prove that you are right. if you think the god haven't blessed you and there is no truth here, you can become the god and create the truth.

in some extent, the dream is the hope. if you can insist on doing something, the victory will come.

hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow. so my dear friends, think of your old and maybe dead dreams. whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today. let's--- move ----out!

someone said “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. i don’t know who wrote these words, but i’ve always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want it to be. we are all in the position of the farmers. if we plant a good seed ,we reap a good harvest. if we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.

we are young. “how to spend the youth?” it is a meaningful question. to answer it, first i have to ask “what do you understand by the word youth?” youth is not a time of life, it’s a state of mind. it’s not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips or supple knees. it’s the matter of the will. it’s the freshness of the deep spring of life.
