Good evening, well-beloved judges and dear teachers and schoolmates.I am a common girl, my name is Suli.Thank you Jacky,my English teacher who gives me the chance to make a speech here.The topic of my speech is “Attitudes to our life” and I will share a story I read on the blackboard---A special gift. A very good carpenter was ready to leave his job because he wanted to spend the last part of life with his family.He told his bohis plan of retirement. His bowas sorry to see his best worker go and asked if he could build just one more house for memory for the last time. The carpenter said yes to it,but it was easy to see that his heart was no longer in his work. He had lost his interests and has used letime and worse materials in buiding the house. It was not a wise way to end his career like that. When the carpenter finished his work his bocame to see the new house.To his suprise, the bogave the front-door key to him. “This is your house,”the bosaid, “my gift to you .” What a shame! If the carpenter had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. Now he had to live in the house he had built badly. Sometimes, we are the same as the carpenter. Usually for the important points we do not give the job our best efforts. We build our lives in a bad way. Then when we look at the situation we have built we find in shock that we are now living in the bad house we have built for ourselves. If we had realized,we would have done it differently. My dear schoolmates, just think of yourself as the carpenter. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or build a wall, please build carelully.Even if you live in it for only one day, even only one mintute,one second, you should live there happily. Someone once said, “Life is a do-it-yourself project” Who could say it more clearly? Your life today is the result of your efforts in the past, and you life tomorrow will be the result of today’s efforts. Hello everyone! Do you have an unforgettable person in your high school? I have an unforgettable person. He is my second form teacher in high school.
When I entered the high school Grade two, I was divided into a science claas a transferred student. The form teacher gathered all transferred students together individually after the opening ceremony. He told us how to adapt new claenvironment and wished we could make greater progress.
He taught Chinese which is a boring subject in most of students’ views. But students in his clacould remember the knowledge quickly under active atmosphere.
At the same time, he also paid attention to our conditions of psychology and health. He usually had a long conversation with each student. He always encouraged us being more confident and never giving up. Besides, he also led us to do running exercise everyday.
