For if dreams die,
Life is a broken-winged bird.
That can never fly.
Hold fast to dreams, For if dreams go,
Life is a barren field,
Frozen with snow. How beautiful it is. Yes, we shouldn’t give up our dreams. We shouldn’t give in to the large pressure on the way to realize our dreams.
There is a group of graduated students called “school-drifters”. According to China Daily, the number of the “school-drifters” had reached 100,000 as long ago as 2005; the number is of course increasing over the years. Living on school resources is a way of cutting living costs. Living close is convenient and familiar. But the real reason for this phenomenon is the intense conflict between the real world and their ideals. The notion “Anybody coming back home without achievements is a loser.” together with a too-high expectation from parents make them dare not go home and speak out their real situation. Enter grad school, find a better job, stay in big cities are their good wishes. Though the reality is cruel, they can realize them step by step.
In the film “The Pursuit of Happiness” when Chris saw the spelling error in the word “happyness”, he said these words: There is no y in happiness, there is i. And also, when we are striving for our future, we should remember there is i and no y. When the rich second generation drive their BMW on the high way, when the official second generation achieved a high position easily, the common young generation could also change their lives through hardship and toil.
How shall we do? Robert H. Goddard gave us the answer, “It is difficult to say which is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and reality of tomorrow”
Youth is not a time of life，it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of
rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees， it is a matter of the will, a
quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions.it is the freshneof the deep springs of life.
Youth means a tempera-mental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We
grow old by deserting our ideals.
Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spring back to dust. whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being’s heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless
station: so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the Infinite, you and I will remain young.
When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old, even at 20, but as long as your aerials are upto catch waves of optimism, there is hope you may have young heart at 80.

无论60岁还是16岁，我们每个人都有着天生的好奇心、孩子般刨根追底不厌其烦的渴求欲望、幻想游戏人生
的生活方式。在你我心中有着心灵的默契：只要我们的心还能从人们的身上和大自然的怀抱中感受到美丽、
希望、快乐、勇气和力量，那么我们依旧年轻无限。
当幻想破灭，而你愤世嫉俗，对生活充满悲观情绪，那么你已经老了。即使在20岁的时候，只要你积极乐观的追求你心中的幻想，一直到永远，那么你在80岁的时候仍有一颗永保青春的心。

Life could be a long journey of pursuing happiness. Does happinehave a universal definition ? I say no. But there must be something in life that makes you realize what it means .
During the SARS period , I heard a true story . In the battle against SARS, a doctor fell down . Mother of a 6-year-old son, wife of a considerate husband, she used to knock at the door even though she got the key, which annoyed the son . But now , to the son, how wonderful the sound was and how happy it was to open the door for his mum. But that will not happen forever.
What do you think? Things are always like this . We usually don’t cherish what we have until the moment we lose it. It reminds me of Helen Keller, U.S author who was blind and deaf from infancy, lived her life to the fullest. She once said “ Darknewould make you more appreciative of sight ; Silence would teach you the joys of sound .”
I could suddenly understand what happinemeans .Materially, it could be everything and it could be nothing. The important thing is the attitude we hold. Happinehas something to do with how we feel about what we have. Compared with the boy and Helen , we’ll find we’ve already had much more: sound health ,sense of security, parental love . But I’m wondering why we always take what we have for granted and why we often ignore what is on the other h
and luxury to others. When there are so many things to distract our attention and to make us confused , do we still know what we have and what we should do? Now, here, to all of us, what we have is the opportunity to learn and to experience. And this opportunity could be a whole-life dream for many youngsters of our age .We are the lucky members. Do we have any excuse not to learn and do we have any excuse not to learn well ?
Time flies ! Four years of university life is quite short .Only once can we live ! Why can’t we realize it now so that we can make full use of every minute . Why don’t we focus on our studies and involve ourselves in the campus life ?If we don’t want to leave any regret , let’s get down to some solid work from this moment .Let’s start right now and let’s work together for our bright future and for our own happine!
