　　从不愿公开设定字数下限的ETS在新托福写作字数做出了规定：在综合写作部分的Direction中标明“通常一篇有效的写作需要150 ～225字”。

　　有留意官方指南的考生都会注意到，书上两个题目的1分范文字数比较多，这令很多考生望而生畏。其实不然，在ETS 公布的相同题目的其他范文中，也出现了字数很少、错误较多的1分范例，因此大家不必对字数过于恐慌，只要超过ETS 的最低标准，并且在内容上稍有发挥并使之富于细节，分数一般就不会低。

　　在此提醒考生，托福写作的字数不是越多越好，而是适当的最好，字数很重要。写作要求已经提示考生字数应在150～225字之间，言外之意是字数多没关系，但少于150字可能会无法清晰地传达所有的重要信息。因此考生不要为了字数而增加字数，过度啰嗦、大量地抄阅读内容中的文字、在标点前面增加空格以欺骗字数统计都是不可取的。同时，要达到一定的字数，熟练的'打字技能也必不可少。
