一、attend college
Some believe that in comparison with those never attended college, people attended college will be more successful in career. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Please give specific reasons for your opinion. I definitely agree to the statement that attending college will make one more successful in career. Attending college means you can get well‐educated in a certain area. And the education will make you fully prepared for your future career. Besides, when you graduate from the college, you can receive a degree, which is very important to get a decent pay. Even if you are over qualified for your job position, the boss has a good reason to give you a relatively low salary because you do not have a certification from college.
我绝对同意上大学会使一个人的职业生涯更为成功。上大学就意味着你可以在某一领域受到良好教育。而教育将让你对未来的职业生涯做好充分准备。除此之外,当从大学毕业你会获得学位,这对于得到一份体面的工作至关重要。即使你能胜任自己的工作,老板也有充分理由付给你一份相对较低的薪水,因为你没有大学凭证。
二、one year break
Some believe that the students should take a one‐ ‐year break before attending college. Do you agree or disagree with the opinion and why? I tend to agree that students should have a one‐year break before entering college. First of all, so many years of study and exams before college really cost a large amount of energy. Therefore, a long‐term break after graduating from high school will be a good way of relaxation and this is beneficial for students both physically and mentally. Also, temporarily staying away from books may provide us a different view of life. It may help us expand our vision and find out, in the real world, what we are really interested in and capable of. This may further help us decide which major to choose once we attend the college. So I say yes to one‐year break before college.
我倾向于学生应在进入大学前休学一年。首先，上大学前多年的学习和考试消耗了大量的精力。因此，高中毕业后休学一年是一个放松的好办法，这有利于学生身心健康。此外，暂时远离书本能给我们的人生提供不同的视角，有助于开阔视野，在现实世界中找到自己的真正兴趣和能力所在。这也就帮助我们选择大学专业，所以我赞成上大学之前休学一年。
三、college education
Some think the college education is very important. Others believe that college education is not of vital importance in one’s life. What’s your opinion and why? In my opinion, for general people, attending college is very important to help us gain success in career. Nowadays, attending college is not only a process of accumulating knowledge, but also the recognition of your abilities by the society. With a college degree, you’ll get more chances of future career success. Furthermore, attending college will make you respected by the society and give you more opportunities of promotion. So although there are some role models such as Bill Gates, I believe attending college will prepare you much better for future.
在我看来,对于一般人而言,上大学很重要，能够帮助我们获得职业生涯的成功。如今,上大学不仅是一个知识积累的过程,而且也是社会对于你能力的承认。拥有大学学位会给未来事业的成功带去更多机会。此外,上大学会让你受到社会尊敬而且给你更多晋升的机会。因此,尽管有一些如比尔盖茨等的榜样,但我相信上大学会让你有更美好的未来。
四、all students
Some people believe that higher education is for all students. Other people believe that higher education is only suitable for certain students. Which opinion do you think is better and why?
I definitely think that the university should be open to all students. I bet no one could deny the fact that the responsibility of a university is to help as many students as it can to develop their academic abilities and be well prepared for their further careers. It is a right for every student who needs education to enter into universities no matter he/she is rich or poor. As long as the universities keep cultivating more well‐educated students, our society will have the fast speed of development .
我绝对认为大学应该对所有学生开放。我敢打赌没有人可以否认大学的职责是帮助尽可能多的学生发展自己的学术能力,可以进一步为他们的事业做好充分准备。不管贫富这对每个需要教育进入大学的学生而言是一种权利。只要大学培养更多受过良好教育的学生,我们社会的`发展速度也会越快。
五、higher education
Should the university education be free? Why?
I don’t agree with the claim about university education for all/for free. First of all, it can cause tension on teaching resources and available facilities. Without any charge of tuition for college students, there will definitely be an increasing enrollment, which will result in great budget and resources pressure. Moreover, the more college students, the less value of the degree. It may go against the original selective purpose of the higher education. So I don’t think it’s wise to make university education for all.
我不同意关于免费大学教育的说法。首先,它会导致教学资源和可用设施的紧张。不收取大学生的任何费用,入学人数肯定会不断增长,这将导致巨大的预算和资源压力。此外,大学生越多,价值也会越来越小。这可能违背最初选择性高等教育的目的。所以我认为这对大学教育不明智。
六、music and art
Some people believe that the high school should teach music and art as other basic science. Some people think that providing music and art education for high school students is not necessary. What is your opinion and why?
I bet no one could deny the fact that the main responsibility of a high school is to help its students develop academic abilities. But for a student himself, it is also very important to get fully educated in other fields like music and art as well as basic science. Music and art can help the students appreciate the beauty in our lives and that will also increase the efficiency of their basic science study. and on the other hand, research has shown that music and art develop the right part of the brain which often influences one's emotions, and nowadays people talk more and more about the importance of EQ, so I believe providing music and art education for high school students is absolutely necessary.

七、sports courses
Whether schools should include sport courses in ordinary classes?
I personally agree with the statement that schools should include sport courses in ordinary classes. First of all, sport courses provide opportunities for students to exercise their body after the long hours of studying in front of desks. Exercise is crucial for a person to keep healthy both mentally and physically, and being healthy is also the prerequisite for students to achieve their academic goals. Besides, doing sports is a good way to relax. That will help students increase the efficiency of their study. In addition, in a sport class, students receive more professional guide on exercise. This will prevent students from getting injured, which would happen if they exercise without proper instructions.
我个人认为学校应当在普通班级中开设体育课程。首先，体育课能帮助学生长期伏案学习之后锻炼身体。锻炼对一个人身心 健康至关重要，保持健康身体也是学生达到学习目标的先决条件。另外，运动也是放松的好方法。这将帮助学生提高他们的学习效率。此外，学生在体育课上得到更专业的指导，这将防止学生受伤，否则容易发生伤害。
八、dormitory
Some people believe that first‐ ‐year college students should live in a dorm building that homes only freshmen. Others may prefer the idea that first‐ ‐year students must live together with students in 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th grade. Which opinion do you agree with? Explain why. Well In my opinion, it is better for freshmen living in the same dormitory with students from senior grades. Living together offers the students from different grades to communicate more often. This is especially helpful for freshmen. If the freshmen have any problem about the study, they could simply go upstairs or downstairs asking for help from their predecessors. For example, They will learn which professor is kind who will not give D or F to students from their predecessors and select his/her course, then got a good average GPA at the end of the semester more easily.

九、uniforms
Do you agree or disagree: Students should wear uniform in school? Please include specific details and examples in your opinion. I definitely agree to the statement that students should wear uniforms in school. The school uniform is usually neat and tidy. It could provide an unified image of the school. And if the students have some activities outside school like taking a picnic for instance, uniform allows the teacher to recognize his/her students much easier. Besides wearing uniform will avoid the comparison among students about clothes. So that the students could be more concentrated on study.
我绝对同意学生在学校应该穿校服。校服通常干净整洁。可以展现出统一的学校形象。而且如果学生们有一些如野餐等的学外活动，校服可以让老师更加容易认出学生。此外穿制服可以避免学生之间衣着的攀比。这样学生们可以将更多精力集中在学习上。
十、recycling
Someone suggests school to cut the Recycling. Do you agree or disagree with this suggestion, explain why. I tend to disagree with cutting the recycling in school. Firstly, recycling can remind students of the importance of environmental protection. With a recycling system, students will discard garbage into the special recycling garbage boxes instead of throwing them away randomly on campus. In addition, schools can employ workers to deal with the garbage regularly, it can also create more jobs for people with low‐income. So for these two reasons, I support that the recycling in school should continue.
我倾向于不同意在学校减少回收再利用。首先,再循环可以提醒学生们环境保护的重要性。有了回收再利用系统,学生们将垃圾扔进特殊的回收垃圾箱内而不是在校园内随意丢弃。此外,学校可以定期雇佣工人来处理垃圾,这样还可以为低收入的人群创造更多的就业机会。鉴于这两个原因,我认为学校应该继续回收再利用。
