A red-letter day在西方国家用来表示盛大的或具有纪念意义的日子。翻译为：“值得纪念或喜庆的日子”，也就是我们中文中说的“大喜的日子”“黄道吉日”。对于某人来说是大喜日子，在a red-letter day的后面用介词for。
