I seem to recall best a journey we made by tram one winter night.
We were going to visit my Granny at Westoe, and I was very excited, because an evening excursion was something quite unheard of for me. It had been raining; the gas lamps lit the gleaming pavements and cobbles with a doubled radiance. The shaking tram wires were sending down showers of white raindrops. Everything in the ram seemed fresh and glittering. The breezy windows sparkled with long zigzags of rain and the passing street lamp flared gorgeously through the panels of blue and yellow and ruby glass. Outside, it was cold and windy, and we could feel the gale buffeting against the side of the tram, making it sway and lurch ore than usual, and throwing the passengers of song, and the fresh, clean, cold sea-wind was blowing right through the upper deck. Above, a high half-moon seemed to be skidding along on its back through piles of black, white-lined rags. It was a wild night, with a sense of magic in the offing. The people in the tram did not like ordinary mortals; a kind of exhilaratinggaietyhadseizedthem,anditseseememed to lighten their bodies and illuminate their faces. At times I was sure we were really flying.

This is really a special winter holiday for me， the first holiday in my university life。
I tried something new。 I spent 7 days being a TA in an English educational institution。 I was a TA for 2 foreign teachers， Nico and Eva。 At first， I was anxious and worried a lot。 You know actually it’s not hard to communicate with them， but I had to be with them for totally 7 days， and talked to them a lot。 I was just afraid that they would look upon me if I made some mistakes。 But later I found out my worries were unnecessary， Eva and Nico could understand me and were patient while I had trouble talking to them。 By the way， this time， I got to know the work of TA was not that easy as I expected， or， more precisely， very challenging。 I had lots to do。 I had to sum up the key points， discuss the next day’s teaching plan with foreign teachers， and make some preparations for classes。 Sometimes I almost stressed out。
The form of our English class is called Winter Camp， which plans to make students learn English unconsciously while they are playing。 It means more enjoyment for children， but at the same time， the more work and preparations for teachers。 For example， the theme of our first class was Food and Health。 Students would make sandwiches by themselves。 So I had to firstly go to the Wal—Mart to buy the needed materials， toast， lettuce， mayonnaise， and etc。 Then I had to wash the lettuce; cut the ham into
pieces; allocate the bread and so on。 Finally I had to clean the desks after students finished their making。 Everyday I was tired as a dog。 I could fall asleep as soon as my head touched the pillow。 Though tired but fun。 I don’t want to try anything like this a second time。 I was just joking， I’m willing to be a TA again。

The cloudy and weeping sky was a depressing sight to me most of the mornings; still, I had to put on my raincoat and start my motorcycle so that I could report to work on time. The weather bureau said it had registered a record rainfall in eighty years. Eighty years? This is the first time my grandma has seen such a long spell of rain! The farmers are sad, worrying about the stunted rice plants in the rain. The housewives frown at the soaring price of vegetables. Furthermore, if you have a little baby, are sure to get into a lot of trouble. It takes a long time to have the diapers dried--not really dry but still a little damp. Do you want to buy a dryer? Sorry, It’s not available at the shops. The only way around this problem is perhaps to buy many "Pampers." Despite people’s complaining, praying and hoping against hope, the rain has gone on almost without any letup. Everywhere you could hear people say, “It starts to rain again” or “Oh, such lousy weather！” or something like that. Although most people feel bad after such a long period of rain, there are some who are actually happy about this freaky weather. The taxi drivers, for example, have gotten an income thrice as much as what they usually get. The gloomy days have lasted so long that I can hardly remember when last saw the beautiful golden sunshine. One day my three-year-old daughter asked me, “Mama. How come the book tells me the sky is blue, but it is not?” I simply didn’t know how to answer her.
