In my childhood,I lived with my grandparents in the countryside.At that time,my family was not rich.But my little friends and I were always very happy and relax.A rubber rope and a wet mud were all of our toys.On hot summer days,a piece of orange ice could make us happy all day.Although we lived in a little house,whose floor was cement and doors were wooden ,we have a large field to run in.It was completely enough for us.
Nevertheless,over the last 20 years,with fast economic development,great changes have taken place in every aspect of our lives.Kids today have various of dolls and toys.They can get sweet ice cream to eat,and live in bright and spacious buildings.It seems that they enjoy wealth of material conditions and must be happy.
However,every coin has two sides.Fast economic development bring us not only richer lives,but also greater pressure, worse environment and more unsafe food.Now,kids will never play after clabecause of busy after-school classes.They will never see numerous [nju:mrs] twinkling stars all over the sky because of the air pollution.And they will never eat food as securely as we do in our childhood because of more and more evil merchants.
In a word, with fast economic development,we gain an abundant and convenient life.But at the same time,we also lose some precious things,like free times,beautiful environment,and most importantly, simple pleasures.

Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . Nobody grows old merely by a number of years . We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . Worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust . Whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being ‘s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living . In the center of your heart and my heart there’s a wirelestation : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young . When the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80. Ladies and gentlemen, I first introduce myself, I’m ShaoAiXiang,I am very glad to stand here! The title of my speech today is about the development of economy and environment problems: now many people just ignore the economic development environment question!
Some people think that the urgent task is to develop economy on a large scale. Surely they have very good reasons to support their viewpoints. China is still a developing country. Although we have made great progrein improving the lives of the people since the open-up policy was adopted in late 1970s, the living standard of our people is still rather low compared to that of the western countries. In some of the poverty-stricken areas, some people even can’t manage to get enough food to feed their families. Obviously the only way to tackle all these problems is to further develop economy.
On the other hand, many people insist that environment protection should be a top priority. Their reasons are hardly refutable as well. In many places the rivers are contaminated so badly that people can hardly find suitable source of drinking water. In one word, the environmental pollution has brought great threat to people’s health and survival. Therefore, it is very urgent for both the government and every citizen to take effective measures to reduce pollution and protect the environment.
In my opinion, both economic development and environmental protection are our urgent tasks now. Nobody is willing to live a poor life in order to enjoy the fresh air and clean rivers. Also you can’t imagine that people can have a happy, rich and healthy life in a badly polluted environment where you can’t even breathe freely. Although economic development and environmental protection may sometimes conflict with each other, they are not at all enemies. We don’t have to sacrifice one for the other. We can, and we should, have them both at the same time. On the one hand, we should try our best to develop economy to improve the living standard of the whole society. On the other hand, we must spare no efforts to make this world a cleaner and better place to live in by reducing any possible pollution with a necessary determination of every member
of the society and the help of science and technology.
