商业银行的财务管理是提高银行竞争力的核心内容，商业银行财务管理是对商业银行信用活动中各项资金和财务收支活动进行计划、组织、调节和控制的总称。随着我国金融体制改革的深化和金融监管的加强,国有银行的内部管理和自我约束力也逐渐加强。同时,随着我国银行业全面对外资银行的开放,也意味着银行业必将引入国际竞争,面临这一严峻态势,银行业要真正实现向国际化商业银行转轨,就必须进一步完善和强化商业银行的内部管理。但从目前我国国有商业银行财务管理的`实际情况看,财务管理没有发挥其在经营管理中的重要 作用。如何科学地使用财务管理手段,已成为现代商业银行提高经营管理水平必不可少的重要内容。
本文从论述财务管理在现代商业银行经营管理中的作用和地位入手，分析了中西方商业银行财务管理的差异，指出了我国商业银行财务管理工作中存在的问题及现状、改革的思路和构架，提出了我国商业银行财务管理改进建议，以提高我国商业银行竞争能力。文章认为，建立高度集中的管理信息系统和管理会计控制模式，推行全面成本管理，严格控制财务风险，是完善我国现代商业银行运行机制的关键。
