  如何解决大城市的住房问题大学英语作文 篇1

housing problem has become one of the biggest concerns for people in big cities. with the rapid development of industry and great increase in employment, more people are swarming into cities. accommodations have become ever difficult, causing inconvenience to people's work and life.

many proposals have been put forward to solve this problem. some suggest that more high buildings be constructed. some insist that the underground be developed. others propose that satellite cities be built. still others argue that cities should be epanded to move people to the suburbs.

personally, i am in favor of building satellite cities in the suburbs. for one thing, these cities are not far away from big cities. it is still very convenient for people to go downtown as they wish. for another, the fresh air and adequate space there will be a great attraction for people who are living in crowded cities. if many people move to the satellite cities, the housing problem in big cities will cease to eist. i am against the idea of developing the underground. because compared with building satellite cities, it is more costly. with each house to light even at daytime, we need a lot of electricity. besides, it witt deprive people of the fresh air and bright sunshine which they can get so easily when they are above the ground.

The shortage of housing in big cities is one of the most serious problems of modern living. Increasing numbers of people are finding it difficult to conduct normal family and work duties because they either have nowhere to live or their houses are inadequate. This is a problem that requires an urgent solution because it leads to social unrest and economic inefficiency.

Some people suggest that the solution to the problem is to build more high-rise apartments, others are in favor of underground housing areas. I prefer the first idea, because it is cheaper to build above ground than below. Besides, people prefer to live in the open air and see the sunshine.

The second idea is not practical. One reason for this is that it is dangerous to construct living places under streets and buildings. Another reason is that it would take too much time to carry out, and in the meantime the number of people waiting for houses would increase, thus making the problem worse.

With the rapid development and the overpopulated in this society, more and more people rushing into the big cities for personal development. So, the housing problems in the big cities is becoming more and more serious.

In my humble opinion, there are several ways to slove this problems. First of all, we can expend the cities, and build more apartment in the country. The fresh air and clean water will attract young people to live there. What’ more, the housing price will be lower than the big cities. Second, the government should control the price of the house. If the house is too expensive, many people may not be able to afford a house on their own. The government should build some cheap apartment for the poor, the young people. Last but not least, we should have more skyscapes, the land is limited, we need more space to support people to have a good living condition.

A good living condition is the key to social stability. if our country have enough houses, the pressure can be relieved to some degree. And our people can live a better environment.

housing problem comes hand in hand with population growth. some big cities in china are now encumbered with a rising population. naturally, one of the most serious problems incurred is that of housing.

despite the mushrooming high building, the provision of living space still falls far short of demands.since the world is advancing, people are no longer reconciled to living in shabby shelters.they look forward to decent dwelling places which can protect huan dignity.

various solutions have been suggested.but there seems to be a drawback to each of the solutions.the traditional free allocation of dwellings to the needy brings great economic burden to the government, while paid allocation brings equal burden to the average people.

the moving of urban population to the suburbs may ease housing problem in inner city but brings about traffic problem.the best solution seems to be a combination of all suggeted solutions.we still have a long way to go.

there are many difficulties in solving housing problems. first, its impossible to put all the space into building houses. secondly, the population of china increases year by year and with the improvement of our living standard, we need more room to rela ourselves in.

Directions: Write an essay in which you are required to state the causes of the housing problem and the demands of city-dwellers for spacious living, and give your possible suggestions to solve the problem. Your essay must be written neatly on ANSWER SHEET 2.

The housing problem is closely related to population growth. Some of the big cities in China are now crowded with an ever increasing population. Naturally, one of the most serious problems incurred is that of housing.

As far as the causes of the housing problem are concerned, many factors are involved. In the first place, with the rapid increase in population, the lack of housing is becoming more evident than ever before. Many old houses have been knocked down to make room for new apartment buildings, which complicates the housing problem for the time being. In the second place, despite the ever-increasing high-rise buildings, the provision of living space still falls far short of demands. Because the society is advancing, city-dwellers long for spacious living. They look forward to decent dwelling places, which can protect human dignity. All these factors result in housing shortage.

Various solutions have been suggested to deal with the problem. To begin with, we should build more apartment buildings to meet the increasing needs of people. In addition, the government may provide bank loans to the residents who want to purchase dwellings of their own. Thirdly, the moving of urban residents to the suburbs may ease the housing problem in the inner city. The best solution I think is to put the birth rate under control. But, as you know, we still have a long way to go.

as can be seen from the chart, ownership of houses in beijing has significantly changed in the 1990s. in 1990, 75 percent of the houses were state-owned. five years later, the ratio of state-owned houses to private ones was 60 to 40. but from then on, the ownership changed dramatically and by the end of the century, 80 percent of houses were private.

there might have been two main reasons. one of the reasons was the policy of the government. in the 1990s, china carried on with its reform policy and the government called for privatization of the state-owned estate. but it took time for the reform to come into effect. but from 1995 on when people have recognized its significance, the reformation took bigger steps. another reason was that the people were getting better off and they could afford buying their own houses.

such changes have had great impact on individuals as well as the society. on one hand, the individuals must save money to buy an apartment or to pay the mortgage. on the other hand, a heavy burden has been taken off the government so that it can take more effective measures to improve peoples life.

buying a house for most of the people is a once in a lifetime decision, which means people decide to do so only after coming across the ideal house. surprisingly, eight in every 10 home buyers are unhappy with their houses.

a survey conducted by the beijing consumers association (bca) recently shows about 80 percent of the 2,315 respondents in 23 residential complees of beijing are dissatisfied with the soaring house prices.

they think the reasonable price in beijing should be between 3,000 yuan and 7,000 yuan per square meter. the quality of the buildings, the surrounding environment and traffic and property management are the other factors that play a role in peoples decision to buy a house.

the bca has suggested strict sales regulations and contracts to ease house-owners sufferings. it has urged the authorities to impose severe punishment on developers found violating building and other rules and joining hands with others to bid up property prices.

about 41.2 percent of the respondents have complained that their houses have defective designs, while nearly 40 percent say the lighting and ventilation are far from satisfactory.

the landscapes in the residential areas are a source of unhappiness for 43.2 percent of the respondents, and about one-third say they were "bluffed" into buying "third grade" houses. and more than half are not satisfied with the sport and entertainment facilities in their neighborhood.

property management in the buildings, 56.5 percent of the respondents say, is way below standard compared to the high fee charged by the complees. a whopping 60 percent of the consumers doubt the contents of developers advertisements, with only 6.3 percent being satisfied.

eperts have suggested consumers gather thorough knowledge about a developer and their work before deciding to buy a house from it. they should check the day-light conditions and ventilation in different weather conditions in advance, if possible.

Should a College Graduate Rent or Purchase a House.

With the soaring of the house price, the dream of having a house becomes unattainable for most of the new graduates. They face a dilemma of dwelling narrowly or renting a room.

People holding the idea of purchasing a house think tbat the advantages of owning a house of their own outweigh another choice. On the one hand, according to the historical record, house price is expected to rise in the future. The possession of a house is expected to make profits in the long run and it is an effective way to avoid the shrinking of your property. On the other hand, a house belonging to yourself makes you feel safety and comfort. Nevertheless, dissenters do not agree with tbe idea. In their view, the house price is too high to afford for graduates. If graduates decide to buy a house, they are certain to increase the burden of their family.

In my opioion, it is more advisable to rent a house during the first years than to buy a house because it is unwise to buy a house at such a high price. It is reasonable to save money and purchase a house at a suitable time. Surely, graduates can decide when to buy a house in accordance with their family condition.
