　　We Do Need English 我们需要英语

　　Recently, Beijing Education Department has announced that the full mark of English in the college entrance examination in2016 will be 100 points, which has dropped 50 points from previous years. While the Chinese will be 180 points, the mathematics remains the same, still 150points. After the news has been exploded, this policy has caused great attention among the public. Some people even wonder: do we still need English as before? And the status of English still remains the same in China? Well, asfar as I am concern, English still an indispensable part of our daily lives.

　　最近，北京市教育局宣布2016年的高考英语总分将为100分，较之前的150分下降了50分。而语文将提高到180分，数学保持不变。此消息一出，就引起了社会的极大关注。有人甚至问到：我们还像过去那样需要英语吗？英语在中国的地位是否保持不变？在我看来，英语始终在我们的生活中是不可缺的一部分。

　　Firstly, English language is of crucial important in international cooperation and exchange. In this competitive world,no country can survive without any other contact with other countries. And through out all the interactions, English, as a global language, is the bridgefor us to communicate with other people who from different culture, different countries. Two thirds of the world trade is conducted in English. In order to perform our duties and enjoy our rights as a significant member of WTO, we doneed English by all means.

　　英语在国际合作与交流中有着重要作用。在这个充满竞争的世界里，每个国家都要与其他国家进行交流沟通，免得就不能生存。而英语，作为全球通用的语言，起到了桥梁的作用，帮助不同文化背景的人们顺利沟通。世界上三分之二的贸易用英语完成。为了更好的享受和履行我们在国际贸易组织的权利和义务，我们无论如何都需要英语。

　　Secondly, English is compulsory inelementary, secondary and further education. One has to pass the English tests to get his certifications. Although we don’t need English so much in our daily lives, when we turn on the computer, listen to the radio, we may find English is everywhere. So, it’s quite necessary for all of us to master a foreign language. Even in the developed countries, students are required tolearn at least one foreign language. And learning English makes contributions to one’s development to some extent.

　　其二，英语在小学、初中、高等教育中都是必修语言。只有通过了英语考试，才能拿到毕业证书。虽然在日常生活中我们不怎么用到英语，但是当我们打开电脑，收听录音，我们就会发现英语无处不在。所以，掌握一门外语很重要。即使在发达国家，每个学生都会要求学至少一门外语。英语也为个人发展做出一定得贡献。

　　Although the English marks of college entrance examination will drop to 100, we still need English in our daily lives. With the rapid development of economic and cultural globalization,learning English is still the tendency for the young generations. It’s not only the tool for people to communicate, but also the golden key to get personal development.

　　虽然高考英语总分会降为100分，但在日常生活中，我们还是需要英语。随着经济的快速发展和文化的全球化，学习英语依旧是年轻一代的趋势。英语不光光是人们用来交流的工具，也是个人发展的金钥匙。

　　Studies show that an increasing number of people throughout the world today are spending one fourth of their incomes on entertainment. This suggests a abrupt change in personal views on pastime and leisure expenditures. And, unnecessarily, entertainment has become a trend that satisfies our special needs.

　　研究表明，在全世界，越来越多的人都在娱乐上花费了四分之一的收入。这意味着个人观点的突然变化，在消遣和休闲支出。而且，不必要的，娱乐已经成为一种趋势，满足我们的特殊需求。

　　Generally, entertainment falls into two different categories: physical and intellectual. Physical entertainment refers to those activities that work to help us keep healthy while playing with certain relaxing games, as football games, though regarded as a kind of sports, usually teaches us how to effectively cooperate with people. In Children's part, this kind of games would make them good players in their later lives, in different sectors. We encourage physical entertainments since health works out a better life for us. While, on the other hand, intellectual activities have appeared to be more and more appreciated by certain education experts, which is frequently seen in the sectors of psychological training, intellectual games, etc. This kind of activities, needless to mention, provide us with personal experiences through games. They seem to be quite educative and instructive in cultivating our own potentials for success or an understanding of life and human existance.

　　Well, both kinds entertainments would be playing important roles in our life. Physical entertainments, any way, build up sound health for us while the later, a sound mental status for us. And, physical health could be attained through other forms of exercises while intellectual growth seems to be more important because intellectuality is the source all kinds of creations.

　　We all know about that there are various kinds of jobs in the world, but what kind of job do you like?Because different people are attracted by different jobs, everyone has his own interest and destination, For example Many people consider an ideal job as a means of making more money and living more comfortably. It may sound reasonable because money is the foundation of life.

　　As far as my ideal job is concerned, I think I want to be a psychologist. I have made up my mind to do what I really want to so that I can realize my idea. I believe interest is of the utmost importance in choosing a job. I have been interested in psychology for a long time, so I want to be a psychologist in the future. I think being a psychologist can help lots of people lead a happier life.

　　新闻媒体在社会中的重要性 The importance of news media in society

　　I think the news media mainly plays two important roles in modern society – providing information and influencing public opinion – and I think its influence is generally positive. Obviously, the news media provides people with vast amounts of information in various forms. We can access it by listening to the radio, reading newspapers and magazines, watching television and by surfing the Internet. The ability to access news media is important for inpiduals and organisations because we make many decisions based on the news provided to us. Some of these decisions are mundane. We check the weather forecast to see whether we should take an umbrella to work. Other news, such as that about the business world, could influence whether we invest our savings in certain companies listed on the stock exchange. The news is often presented to us in certain ways, using specific words to try to control our feelings and thoughts. This can be the main negative influence of the news media. Very often, the news media portrays people in simplistic ways, giving us some facts, but not the whole story. In the USA, some news media tends to support the Republicans whilst others tend towards the Democrats and the portrayal of inpiduals can reflect this. This is somewhat inevitable, because the editors, journalists and owners of the news media have opinions and biases. So, I think that it would be better if people checked news stories from different sources instead of only using one source. Despite the fact that the news media can report events incorrectly or with bias, I think that the general influence on society is good. More factual information gives us the chance to make better decisions, both in our personal lives and in our working lives.
