托福独立写作解题技巧

在托福独立写作解题过程中，许多同学都无法针对写作题目(prompts)于短时间内由不同角度拟出可行性强的reasons及相应details，因而导致无话可写，写作速度慢，或无法给出合适的例证。今天 Mafrek(小强)老师就来给大家介绍他的众多解题法之一的“背景构建法”(creating a context)， 希望能帮助同学们快速准确地解题。
大多数托福独立写作prompts都非常简短，没有任何相关背景或语境给出，同学们在解题时也很容易泛泛而谈，难以打开思路或无法给出具体例证：
Your community has a piece of land and is considering introducing a business to this land. Which business would you prefer? a. a shopping mall b. a performing art center c. a hotel.
此类题目许多同学若选择 performing art center 可能会谈到艺术的.重要性，好处(修身养性，开阔视野，social)，以及 art center对自己社区居民的好处(如放松休闲)，但往往无法给出具体例证或易于表达的例证和细节，亦或是无法从其它角度给出 reasons。若是选择 shopping mall, 许多同学更是除了convenient 外就再难从其它角度给出reasons. 此处不妨谈谈 your community 的情况，是在何种context里的一个 community? 1) Your community 是否已有shopping mall? art center? hotel? 有多少个?是否还需要? 2) Your community 是否有于题目相关的features?周边情况?
1 Shopping Mall
此题若选 shopping mall，可给出背景如： my community 已有6个hotels，3个performance arts centers ，却并没有shopping mall. 接下来例证细节可详细吐槽无shopping mall带来的不便。
第二个论点若一时无别的idea可写也没关系，可直接在上个论点基础上扩展，再从hotels和arts centers这两处吐槽: 6个hotels，3个arts centers常年都没有被充分利用 (those hotels and performance arts centers were not fully used)， 有的hotels甚至都要倒闭了。显然再建hotels之类的是无用 (will be useless/ will be of no use)且费钱的。
2 Hotel
Likewise, 若选hotel，可给出背景如： my community is right next to a national park，然而却只有一个hotel且常常爆满，facilities也out-of-date，七八个shopping malls却没人逛，三个art centers也没能得到充分使用 。
注意此处context的构建要考虑所需支持的观点，去national park的游客大多都需要hotel，但对七八个shopping malls的需求量则不大 (不至于大多都要疯狂扫货，爱马仕劳力士什么的买一堆)，因而可支持get one more hotel rather than shopping mall.
此处若将national park改为Disney park可能就不够convincing了(参考香港Disney为例，旁边一站就是东荟城CityGate，大家懂的)。
3 Art Centre
若选art center，可给出背景： my community is right next to three art universities，然而却没有一个art center。学生演出不方便需驱车去别的城市。另外，若 build an art center，也可以create more job opportunities给这些学校的students.
此类极端虚构法在很多别的类似题目(几乎所有选择类题目)上也适用，解题快准狠，希望大家可以做到举一反三：
The government needs to decrease its annual budget due to the global financial crisis, which one aspect below do you think the government should focus more of its limited budgets on? a. education b. health care c. support for unemployed.
