Some Japanese civilian associations have met in Tokyo to mourn Chinese victims of the Nanjing Massacre 65 years ago.

Representatives believe the Japanese government must treat history objectively and fairly, and try to establish good relations with its Asian neighbors.

Some Japanese scholars say their country committed unpardonable crimes in its invasion of China, Korea and other Asian countries during the Second World War.

The worst crimes of all happened when Japanese troops occupied Nanjing in Jiangsu Province and slaughtered hundreds of thousands of Chinese people. They note Japan should learn from history and avoid repeating its acts of the past.

Last December, people flocked to see The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. The film made US$350 million worldwide in its first two weeks. It also won four Academy Awards.

The film began the story of a group, or "fellowship," of characters. They have one purpose: To destroy a special ring that gives the wearer great power. The Dark Lord Sauron wants to capture it and use it to control the world. The group must elude Sauron and take the ring to a faraway place and destroy it.

This film continues the saga begun in Fellowship of the Ring. In the Two Towers, the fight of good against evil continues. The characters have now split into two groups. One group is continuing on the quest to destroy the ring. The other group is looking for two of their members who have been captured by evil orcs.
