China will allow foreign banking companies to do RMB business in five more cities starting next month.
China's central bank, the People's Bank of China, says foreign banking businesses which have branches in Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Qingdao, Nanjing and Wuhan can submit their applications.
The country has already allowed foreign banking companies in Shanghai and several other cities to engage in RMB business. Some 45 overseas banks have won approval to do the business in China.
China says it will gradually open its banking sector to fulfill its commitments for WTO entry.

China's largest television tube maker has started operations in central China's Zhengzhou city.
The Anfei Electronic Glass Company, with Netherlands-based electronics giant LG-Philips holding 14 percent of its stake, has four production lines with a designed annual output of two million flat television screens and more than four million tapered tubes.
Its main products are tubes with a screen size from 29 inches to 36 inches.
All products are expected to be sold to LG-Philips' affiliates around the world.
