Palestinian Cabinet Minister Saeb Erekat has strongly condemned the decision by Israel's Supreme Court approving the expulsions of two relatives of Palestinian terror suspects.

He calls this move collective punishment and a war crime, adding that Palestine is considering asking the UN Security Council to convene over it.

Human rights lawyers also say Israel's measure violates international law, specifically the Geneva Convention, which forbids individual or mass forced transfers from occupied territory.

In a landmark decision, Israel's Supreme Court ruled that Israel can expel relatives of Palestinian terror suspects from the West Bank to the Gaza Strip, but only if it proves they pose a security threat.

The court also overturned the expulsion order against another Palestinian, forcing the military to hold public hearings in court before they can expel a relative of a militant.

Israel had tried to expel families of terror suspects in July, but was forced to a stop on account of strong international opposition.
