An English proverb goes like this , " Spare the rod and spoil the child ." It implies that in order to enable a child to grow healthily , parents must make him eat bitter foods, do hard work and be sent to places where he can get the fullest training and knowledge.
一句英国谚语这样说，“不必把它放在孩子身上”，这意味着为了使孩子健康成长，父母必须使他吃苦的食物，做艰苦的工作，被送到他能得到最充分的训练和知识的地方。
First of all , eating bitter foods is necessary for a child . Poor food can help cultivate in him the frugal (节俭的. ) habit and make him realize what we eat daily is the fruit of the sweat of the laboring people . Consequently , he will not be wasteful when he grows up . Secondly , parents should also make the child do hard work . Doing hard work will give him an opportunity to taste the bitterness of labor. Moreover, hard work may also enable him to cherish the fruit of other's labor. Finally , children should be sent to somewhere where life is hard if possible .
首先，吃苦的食物是必要的一个孩子。可怜的食物可以帮助他培养的节俭习惯（节俭的），让他意识到我们每天吃的是劳动人民汗水的果实。因此，当他长大后，他不会是浪费的。其次，家长也应该让孩子做艰苦的工作。做艰苦的工作会让他有机会品尝到劳动的痛苦。此外，努力工作也可能使他珍惜别人的劳动成果。最后，孩子们应该被送去一个可能的地方，如果可能的话，生活是艰难的。
