This Is Me

Hello here! I’m Zhang , that’s my honor to see all of you sitting here listening to my words, I beg your patience for my blahblahblah, and today my topic of speech is This

Is Me.

Nowadays, everything is changing unpredictable. And all of us seem to pay more attention to the others, to the society or to the things on the other side of the earth. But have we ever thought about those questions: What’s the most terrified thing for me? Could I ever fight with my bad manners and did I ever communicate with myself? Maybe you’ll think that I’ve lost my mind asking those questions, but guys wemodern people do need this ability——self-criticism or self-insight.

Chinese people have pursued our set way of the aim of life as“to be a man and hold a family then contribute to society”from ancient times. According to this, we can know obviously that “to be a man” has been regarded as the thing that a responsible adult should deal with, or we should say, aspire to be firstly.

As far as I could concern, “to be a man” not only means to show high moral standards, but to get well known about ourselves, yet we could hardly reach this standards by now because of the age or the lack of experience of living; however, things we can do would be more than just wandering around.

One who knows his own strength and that of the enemy is invincible in battle; all I want to say is that This Is Me is not just making a self-introducing or emphasizing, the speech I made is not talking about my personality or inner-quality, it is a slogan or an aphorism, which always warning us that: get to know ourselves and to be a man.

youth and dreams英语演讲稿2017-08-20 00:37:32 | #2楼回目录

姓名 :高文静 序号 :9 Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen

My name is Gao Wenjing, and I am contestant number 9. Today, I am very glad to stand here and deliver a speech about ‘Youth and Dreams’. Before I start, I’d like to ask you to keep the two words ‘youth’ and ‘dream’ in your mind , and think about the influence they have had on your life till now.

Firstly, as for me, the youth and dream are two words with magical power. Take my recent three years for example, my youth seems keeping telling me that I have the time and energy to persue what I want and what I dream, and my dreams lead me to go to a college, to choose my favorite English as my major, and now standing here to start my first step of being a public speaker.Secondly, as for you, my dear schoolmates, since you are also in your youthful time and with dreams, I assume that you also have the same feeling of the magical power from your youth and dreams.

But, ladies and gentlemen, have you ever wondered why our youth and dreams have this magical power to drive us move foreward? I have thought about this question for a long time before the speech , and now I want to illustrate my understanding by an analogy. Imaging our life as a

piece of painting, regarding our youth as the blank painting paper and assuming our dreams as these various colorful painting brushes. We all want to use colorful dreams to decorate youth ,to make our life a fantastic and unique painting in the world. I think, that is why we allstruggle to achieve dreams during youthful times. And of course, youth is exactly the best time for us to achieve impossibles. Now, as college students, maybe we are not perfect enough to do great dees, and sometimes even shallow. Maybe we are still a long long distance away from our goals. Maybe except the energy and expectations we have, we are under more pressure and responsibilities. Of course, ladies and gentlemen, there are a lot of other maybes, but since we are in the most beautiful years in our life, aren’t these youthful years the best time to fly our dreams? Yes, the answer is definitely yes.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please always remind ourselves that we are now in our youthful time, nothing is impossible here, no matter how many difficulties or challenges, we should never retreat or flinch. This is our time, this is our show. Always believe that we have this amazing strength to change any situation. Always believe that we are the masters of our feature. This is what we colleges students should do! This is what youth and dreams should be!

This is the end of my speech, thank you very much.

A: Hello, everyone! I am very glad to share my topic with you. Then we'd like to talk something about Mid-Autumn festival today. My name is xx.

B: My name is xx. So, xx, can you make some introductions about the Mid-Autumn festival?

A: Okay. The Mid-Autumn festival is a very important Chinese festival. It falls on the 15th day of August. It is a time for family members and loved ones to congregate and enjoy the full moon, which is an

auspicious symbol of abundance, harmony and luck. On the evening there will be a big family dinner. After dinner, people usually taste delicious moon cakes of many varieties with a good cup of hot

Chinese tea, while children run around with their brightly-lit lanterns. They can also look back on the past and look forward to the future together.By the way, do you know what the meaning behind this holiday is?

B;Mid-Autumn festival probably began as a harvest festival. The festival was later given a mythological flavor with legends of Chang-E, the beautiful lady in the moon. According to Chinese mythology, the earth once had 10 suns circling over it. One day, all 10 suns appeared together, scorching the earth with their heat. The earth was saved when a strong archer, Hou Yi, succeeded in shooting down 9 of the

suns. As his reward, the Heavenly Queen Mother gave Hou Yi the

Elixir of Immortality .But his wife, Chang-E drank it. Then she became the Moon Fairy. Thus started the legend of the lady in the moon to whom young Chinese girls would pray and people would sacrifice at the Mid-Autumn Festival.

A: Referred to legends, there is another one I want to share with all of you. During the Yuan Dynasty, China was ruled by the Mongolian people. The king of them was very cruel. An underground group led by Zhu Yuanzhang was determined to rid the country of Mongolian dominance. The moon cake was created to carry a secret message. When the cake was opened and the message read,

an uprising was unleashed which successfully routed the Mongolians. What followed was the establishment of the Ming Dynasty. Today, moon cakes are eaten to commemorate this event.

B: Wow! How clever he is! In my hometown lies in the Minnan area, there is a custom in Mid-Autumn Festival called Moon-cake gambling. All the game requires are six dice and a china bowl. Just throw the dice into the bowl and the different pips you get stand for different ranks of awards you will win. The activity was invented by Zheng Chenggong to help relieve homesickneamong his troops during Mid-Autumn Festival. Now, Xiamen people still believe that the person, who wins "Zhuangyuan" in the game, will have good luck that

year. And the Mid-Autumn Festival is the second important holiday in Xiamen besides Spring Festival.

A: Sounds interesting! The winner of Moon-cake gambling can taste delicious moon cakes! I usually looked forward to the Mid-Autumn Festival during childhood because I could eat various tastes of moon cakes. The custom of eating moon cakes appeared in the Tang Dynasty. Ancient moon cake was eaten as a sacrifice (祭品)in the Mid-Autumn Festival. Due to the passage of time, the moon cake has been changed into the Mid-Autumn Festival’s food and gifts. In the enening, family members worship the moon, and then the housewife cut moon cake by the members of the family. Who shares moon cake more averagely, who will have more good luck.

B: I also enjoy moon cakes. It is believed that the moon is at her brightest on this night. The round shape of moon cakes symbolizes not only the moon but also the unity of the family. By the way, except moon cakes, I also hear that in Taiwan, barbecuing meat outdoors has become a widespread way to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. Different areas celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival in different ways, but the wishes of enjoying the moon and getting together with families are the same. As the moon rises, we share it at the same time no matter we are together or far apart.

A: That’s all. Thank you for listening.
