My ideas of success

What I am going to talk about today is my ideas of success. What is success? It looks like a very complicated question. Sometimes succewould be rather simple. Winning a game is success; getting a high grade in the exam is success; making a new friend is success; even now I am standing here giving my speech is also success.

Before i enter XMJ, i happened to meet a mentor. He is an experienced technician inXMJ now. when recall the period of time to find a job ,he didn't hold too much hope. while he was accepted by accident. When he started, is engaged in worker, then two years later, he get into the technician positions successfully . So he said that a person's efforts are closely related with success, but if the company don't privide a good stage,he was also unble to demonstrate his ability.

I am sure every succeis dear to everybody, because it is not easy to come by, because in the proceof our striving for success, we got both our body and soul tempted, As our company hopes that: taking great responsibilities, and making great achievements”. So now I am very proud that I have this opportunity to stand here speaking to all of you. It is my success, because I raise up to challenge my hope.

Wish you all success. That is all, thank you.

Man’s life is a proceof growing up

Man’s life is a proceof growing up, actually I’m standing here is a growth. If a person’s life must constituted (组成)by various choices, then I grow up along with these choices. Once I hope I can study in a college in future, however that’s passed, as you know I come here, now I wonder what the future holds for (= what will happen to) me.

When I come to this school, I told to myself: this my near future, all starts here. Following I will learn to become a man, a integrated man, who has a fine body, can take on important task, has independent thought, an open mind, intensive thought, has the ability to judge right and wrong, has a perfect job.

Once my teacher said :” you are not sewing, you are stylist; never forget which you should lay out to people is your thought, not craft.” I will put my personality with my interest and ability into my study, during these proceI will combine learning with doing. If I can achieve this “future”, I think that I really grow up. And I deeply believe kindred, good-fellowship and love will perfection and happy in the future.

How to say future? Maybe it’s a nice wish. Lets make up our minds, stick to it and surely well enjoy our life.

Friendship

Every one of us, rich or poor, should at least have one or two good friends. My friends will listen to me when I want to speak, will wipe my eyes when I cry, will take care of me when I am sick, and my friends will go together with me side by side through this journey of life.

As students, we could share more time with our friends. The friendship in our young hearts is pure, fresh and simple. I often feel very lucky to have a lot of good friends. Especially when I had Justin as one of my best friends. Justin was my English teacher from the USA. I met him in 1996 when I was a student who could only speak very little English. Justin was a vivid young man with a bright smile on his face, and he always had his special way to make the claactive and attractive. He taught us English by telling stories, playing games, singing songs, and even dancing. I could still remember very clearly that one afternoon when we fin-ished our class, we went to some other classes to sing songs for them, just like what people do in the states on Christmas Eve. It was so interesting and unforgettable. Justin was an excellent teacher, because he taught us not only how to study English well, but also the way to find out the beauty of the world and the way to be angels to others' lives. I know there was friendship and pure love in our hearts. Facing this valuable emotion neither nationality nor age was important, the real importance lay in faith, under-standing, and care. Justin is the

best friend I have ever had, and I know I will cherish those days of staying together with him as the best part of my memory.

Friendship is a kind of treasure in our lives. It is actually like a bottle of wine, the longer it is kept, the sweeter it will be. It is also like a cup of tea. When we are thirsty, it will be our best choice, but when we have enough time to enjoy ourselves, it is also the most fragrant drink.

However, in this fast-developing modern society, the reality is not that. More and more people forget to enjoy the beauty of life and -the beauty of friendship. They work hard in order to gain a higher position, in the society and to earn more money for their work. Of course, we don't deny that it is important to find a bet-ter place in our lives, but we wish more and more people could pay a little more attention to themselves and their friends. All of us have to spare some time for personal lives. We have to find the chance to expreour emotion and love. When staying with our friends, we can release ourselves completely. We can do whatever we want, we can laugh together, talk together, and even cry to-gether. I should say that being together with our best friends is the most wonderful moment of our lives.

As we know, we would feel lonely if we didn't even have a friend. But it doesn't mean we could depend on our friends all the time. There is a famous motto saying that “A friend is like a quilt with cotton wadding, but the real thing that keeps you warm is your own temperature.” It is really true. We have to work hard together with our friends, encourage each other and help each other. When we receive love and friendship, we should repay as much as we can.

Finally, let's pray together now that one day, all of us could find the person we want to find, and could enjoy a real beautiful friendship in our lives. Let's pray the flower of friendship be-tween our friends and us would always bloom brightly in our hearts

I have a dream

Every one has his own dream. When I was a little kid ,my dream was even to have a candy shop of my own .But now ,when I am 16 years old ,standing here ,my dreams have already changed a lot.

I have got quite different experience from other girls. While they were playing toys at home, while they were dreaming to be the princesses in the story .I was running in the hard rain, jumping in the heavy snow, pitching in the strong wind.Nothing could stop me ,because of a wonderful call from my heart -- to be an athlete.Yeah ,of course ,I'm an athlete,I'm so proud of that all the time .

When I was 10 years old ,I became a shot-put athlete. The training was really hard ,I couldn't bear the heavy shot in my hands .But I always believe that "god only help those who help themselves".During those

hard days,I find I was growingmore quickly than others of the same age.To be an athlete is my most correct choice. But,I quit my team after entering high school because of a silly excuse.I really didn't want to stop my sports career anyway.

Today I say to you my friends that even though I mustface the difficulties of yesterday ,today and tomorrow .I still have a dream .It is a dream deeply rooted in my soul.

I have a dream that one day ,I can run, jump and pitch just like I used to be.

I have a dream that one day , I can go back to my dream sports and join the national team.

I have a dream that one day ,I can stand on the highest place at the olympic games. With all the cameras pointing at me.I will tell everyone that I'm so proud to be a Chinese athlete!

This is my hope. This is the faith that I continue my steps with!!!

With this faith ,I will live though the strong wind and heavy rain ,never give up !

So let victory ring from my heart, from all of you. When we allow victory to ring .I must be the one!

In my imagination,I'm a bird ,a magical bird.I carry my dreams all with me by my big wings. I fly though the mountains ,though the forests ,over the sea,to the sun ,the warmest place in the aerospace!

Every night ,I have a dream ,I see a girl ---smiling

Clinton, distinguished guests and my fellow citizens, the peaceful

transfer of authority is rare in history, yet common in our country. With

a simple oath, we affirm old traditions and make new beginnings.

As I begin, I thank President Clinton for his service to our nation.

And I thank Vice President Gore for a contest conducted with spirit and

ended with grace.

I am honored and humbled to stand here, where so many of America's leaders

have come before me, and so many will follow.

We have a place, all of us, in a long story -- a story we continue, but

whose end we will not see. It is the story of a new world that became a

friend and liberator of the old, a story of a slave-holding society that

became a servant of freedom, the story of a power that went into the world

to protect but not possess, to defend but not to conquer.

It is the American story -- a story of flawed and fallible people, united

acrothe generations by grand and enduring ideals.

The grandest of these ideals is an unfolding American promise that

everyone be

longs, that everyone deserves a chance, that no insignificant person was

ever

born.

Americans are called to enact this promise in our lives and in our laws.

And t

hough our nation has sometimes halted, and sometimes delayed, we must

follow n

o other course.

Through much of the last century, America's faith in freedom and democracy

was

a rock in a raging sea. Now it is a seed upon the wind, taking root in

many nations.

Our democratic faith is more than the creed of our country, it is the

inborn h

ope of our humanity, an ideal we carry but do not own, a trust we bear and

paalong. And even after nearly 225 years, we have a long way yet to

travel.

While many of our citizens prosper, others doubt the promise, even the

justice, of our own country. The ambitions of some Americans are limited

by failing schools and hidden prejudice and the circumstances of their

birth. And sometimes our differences run so deep, it seems we share a

continent, but not a country.

We do not accept this, and we will not allow it. Our unity, our union, is

the serious work of leaders and citizens in every generation. And this is

my solemn pledge: I will work to build a single nation of justice and

opportunity.

I know this is in our reach because we are guided by a power larger than

ourselves who creates us equal in His image.

And we are confident in principles that unite and lead us onward.

America has never been united by blood or birth or soil. We are bound by

ideals th

that move us beyond our backgrounds, lift us above our interests

and teach us what it means to be citizens. Every child must be taught

these principles. E

very citizen must uphold them. And every immigrant, by embracing these

ideals, makes our country more, not less, American.

Today, we affirm a new commitment to live out our nation's promise through

civility, courage, compassion and character.

America, at its best, matches a commitment to principle with a concern for

civility. A civil society demands from each of us good will and respect,

fair dealing and forgiveness.

Some seem to believe that our politics can afford to be petty because, in

a time of peace, the stakes of our debates appear small.

But the stakes for America are never small. If our country does not lead

the cause of freedom, it will not be led. If we do not turn the hearts of

children toward knowledge and character, we will lose their gifts and

undermine their idealism. If we permit our economy to drift and decline,

the vulnerable will su

ffer most.

We must live up to the calling we share. Civility is not a tactic or a

sentime nt. It is the determined choice of trust over cynicism, of

community over chaos. And this commitment, if we keep it, is a way to

shared accomplishment.

America, at its best, is also courageous.

Our national courage has been clear in times of depression and war, when

defending common dangers defined our common good. Now we must choose if

the example of our fathers and mothers will inspire us or condemn us. We

must show courage in a time of blessing by confronting problems instead of

passing them on to

future generations.

Together, we will reclaim America's schools, before ignorance and apathy

claim more young lives.

We will reform Social Security and Medicare, sparing our children from

struggles we have the power to prevent. And we will reduce taxes, to

recover the momentum of our economy and reward the effort and enterprise

of working Americans.

We will build our defenses beyond challenge, lest weakneinvite

challenge.

We will confront weapons of madestruction, so that a new century is

spared

new horrors.

The enemies of liberty and our country should make no mistake: America

remains engaged in the world by history and by choice, shaping a balance

of power tha

t favors freedom. We will defend our allies and our interests. We will

show purpose without arrogance. We will meet aggression and bad faith with

resolve and strength. And to all nations, we will speak for the values

that gave our nation birth.

America, at its best, is compassionate. In the quiet of American

conscience, we know that deep, persistent poverty is unworthy of our

nation's promise.

And whatever our views of its cause, we can agree that children at risk

are not at fault. Abandonment and abuse are not acts of God, they are

failures of lo

ve.

And the prol

iferation of prisons, however necessary, is no substitute for

hope and order in our souls.

Where there is suffering, there is duty. Americans in need are not

strangers, they are citizens, not problems, but priorities. And all of us

are diminished when any are hopeless.

Government has great responsibilities for public safety and public health,

for civil rights and common schools. Yet compassion is the work of a

nation, not just a government.

And some needs and hurts are so deep they will only respond to a mentor's

touch or a pastor's prayer. Church and charity, synagogue and mosque lend

our communities their humanity, and they will have an honored place in our

plans and in our laws.

Many in our country do not know the pain of poverty, but we can listen to

those who do.

And I can pledge our nation to a goal: When we see that wounded traveler

on the road to Jericho, we will not pato the other side.

America, at its best, is a place where personal responsibility is valued

and expected.

Encouraging responsibility is not a search for scapegoats, it is a call to

concience. And though it requires sacrifice, it brings a deeper

fulfillment. We find the fullneof life not only in options, but in

commitments. And we find that children and community are the commitments

that set us free.

Our public interest depends on private character, on civic duty and family

bonds and basic fairness, on uncounted, unhonored acts of decency which

give direction to our freedom.

Sometimes in life we are called to do great things. But as a saint of our

times has said, every day we are called to do small things with great

love. The most important tasks of a democracy are done by everyone.

I will live and lead by these principles: to advance my convictions with

civility, to pursue the public interest with courage, to speak for greater

justice and compassion, to call for responsibility and try to live it as

well.

In all these ways, I will bring the values of our history to the care of

our times.

What you do is as important as anything government does. I ask you to seek

a common good beyond your comfort; to defend needed reforms against easy

attacks;

to serve your nation, beginning with your neighbor. I ask you to be

citizens:

citizens, not spectators; citizens, not subjects; responsible citizens,

building communities of service and a nation of character.

Americans are generous and strong and decent, not because we believe in

ourselves, but because we hold beliefs beyond ourselves. When this spirit

of citizenship is missing, no government program can replace it. When this

spirit is pre

sent, no wrong can stand against it.

After the Declaration of Independence was signed, Virginia statesman John

Page wrote to Thomas Jefferson: "We know the race is not to the swift nor

the batt

le to the strong. Do you not think an angel rides in the whirlwind and

directs

this storm?"

Much time has passed since Jefferson arrived for his inauguration. The

years and changes accumulate. But the themes of this day he would know:

our nation's grand story of courage and its simple dream of dignity.

We are not this story's author, who fills time and eternity with his

purpose.

Yet his purpose is achieved in our duty, and our duty is fulfilled in

service to one another.

Never tiring, never yielding, never finishing, we renew that purpose

today, to make our country more just and generous, to affirm the dignity

of our lives and every life.

This work continues. This story goes on. And an angel still rides in the

whirl wind and directs this storm.

God bleyou all, and God bleAmerica.

But, she didn't even say "Good Morning," let alone any "Happy Birthday."

I thought, well...that's a wife for you. I guess, the children will remember. Then, thechildren came into breakfast, but, they didn'tsay a word.

When I started to the office, I was feeling pretty low and despondent. As I walked into myoffice, my secretary Janet said, "Good morning,Boss, happy birthday." And I felt a little better, someone had remembered.

I worked until noon. Then, Janet knocked on my door and said, "You know, it's such a beautifulday outside, and it's your birthday, let's goto lunch, just you and me."

I said, "That's the greatest thing I've heardall day. Let's go."

So, we went to lunch. We didn't go where wenormally go. We went out into the country toa little private place. We had two martinis and enjoyed lunch tremendously.

On the way back to the office, Janet said,"You know, it's such a beautiful day. We don't need to go back to the office, do we?"

I said, "No, I guenot."

She said, "Let's go to my apartment."

After arriving at her apartment, she said,"Boss, if you don't mind, I think I'll go in to the bedroom, and slip into something more comfortable."

"Sure," I excitedly replied.

Janet went into the bedroom and, in about sixminutes, she came out carrying a big birthdaycake, followed by my wife, children and dozensof my friends. All were singing "Happy Birthday".. and there I sat on the couch ... naked.

I have been in University for about one year. During my stay here, I came to realize that university life is like drinking coke. We experience all tastes of life here, sour, sweet, bitter and hot.

I am from Province, which is far away from here. I often mimy Mum, friends, and relatives in my hometown. However, I can't see them very often. So lonelinealways keeps me company. I am sad that I can't be there with them.

Lucky for me, life in university is rich and colorful. With more free time,we can do many more things besides study, such as joining societies clubs, and taking part-time jobs. Such activities not only make our life more colorful, but also help us improve all kinds of skills. The university is a society miniature, what we learn here will benefit our future life.

Our path in life will not always be smooth. Setbacks can't be avoided. Failing an important exam, break up with boy or girl friend, or refused by a promising company, such setbacks are likely to get us down. Sometimes we fell so frustrated that we even burst into tears.

Drinkin coke is wonderful, despite the undesirble consequent hiccups. It's bitter, sour and peppery, but also sweet. And you'll even feel excited after gulping down a glass. A college experience is part of growing up. We cry, smile, fall in love, get hurt, leave, learn and then we become a better person.

University life is like drinking coke. I'm experiencing it. And I know, I enjoy it!

YOUTH

Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and su

pple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshneof the deep springs of life.

Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite, for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of sixty more than a body of twenty.Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.

Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.

Whether sixty or sixteen, there is in every human being's heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing child-like appetite of what's next, and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wirelestation; so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the Infinite, so long are you young.

When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old, even at twenty, but as long as your aerials are up, to catch the waves of optimism, there is hope you may die young at eighty.

In my 18 years of life, there have been many things. University days are the best part of them. I can never forget the days when I stepped into my university. I was impressed by its garden-like campus, its enthusiastic students and especially its learning atmosphere. I at once fell in love with it.

After the arduous military training, I get absolutely absorbed in my studies. The classes giv

iven by the teachers are excellent. They provide us with information not only from our textbooks but from many other sources as well. They easily arouse my insatiable desire to take in as much as I can.

Frankly speaking, at first I had some difficulty following the teachers. However, through my own efforts and thanks to my teachers' guidance, I made remarkable progress. Now I've benefited a lot from lectures and many other academic reports.

Learning is a long process; I'll keep exploring in the treasure house of knowledge to enrich myself. This summer I got out of the ivory tower and entered the real world. A publishing house offered me a part-time job in compilation and revision.

At the beginning I was belittled by my colleagues. But they were really surprised when I translated seven English articles over 5,000 words on only one day. Gradually, they began to look at me with respectful eyes. In their opinion I turned out to be a useful and trustworthy colleague.

I also realize that only those who bring happinefor others can be truly happy. So I often take part in activities concerning public welfare. I once went to a barren mountain village with my classmates. We taught the kids there who could not afford school. While showing them how broad and how civilized the outer world is, I was deeply touched by their eagerneto learn, their honesty and their purity. I couldn't control my tears on the day when we left. The precious experience with the poor kids made me aware of the responsibility on the shoulders of us, future teachers.

Besides study and social practice, there are entertainments as well. I do body building every day, hoping to keep healthy and energetic. We also write a play and put it on in our spare http://www.oh100.com

Campus life is the most splendid time. But different people have different choices. The majority of students cherish their beautiful season and cherish the hope that one day they'll become outstanding. But there are indeed some students still under ignorance. They gather together for eating, drinking or playing cards. They're busy in searching for a girlfriend or a boyfriend. They forget completely about their mission as college students and the hope of their motherland.

Finally, I do hope everybody can try their best to become a worthy citizen of the country. I do hope everybody can become the backbone of our nation and make great contributions to society!

Man’s life is a proceof growing up, actually I’m standing here is a growth. If a person’s life must constituted by various choices, then I grow up along with these choices.
